Join us for an unforgettable evening of culinary delights at Gwoonwardu Mia as we proudly launch the Gascoyne Food Festival events! We are thrilled to welcome renowned guest chef Paul Iskov from Fervor, whose passion for showcasing native Australian ingredients is sure to captivate your taste buds.
This extraordinary event will not only celebrate the region's rich gastronomic heritage but also highlight the incredible talents of Jardilunji Mia's Aboriginal hospitality students. These dedicated students have embarked on a profound journey, spending days on country with traditional owner, Rennee Turner from Wooramulla Eco Cultural Journeys, immersing themselves in the art of foraging for Indigenous ingredients to showcase on this special night.
Nestled in our scenic outdoor grassed area, we will gather around the enchanting fire pit, creating an ambiance that perfectly complements the evening's culinary experience. To enhance the enjoyment, we have arranged four separate stations, each featuring a unique and tantalising menu item. At each station, you will be warmly welcomed by our student ambassadors, who will introduce themselves and proudly share the story behind the dish they are serving.
Prepare your palates for an exceptional feast, where each dish holds its own unique allure. Explore the enticing blend of emu chorizo, sea blite, and pigface slaw, a perfect fusion of textures and tastes that will leave you craving more.
The evening will also showcase a Shark Bay prawn tart, adorned with roasted yams, drizzled with local honey, and garnished with the vibrant hues of bloodroot. Finally, savour the comforting warmth of a traditional kangaroo stew, accompanied by a freshly baked wattle seed damper—a dish that pays homage to the age-old traditions of the land.
