The 2025 Gascoyne Food Festival is almost here, with celebrations of food, culture, and community kicking off in Carnarvon on Saturday 26 July.

In our last blog post, we explored the vibrant second and third weeks of the Festival in Exmouth, where the ocean meets the outback in a fusion of flavours and unforgettable experiences. Now, it’s time to shift our focus inland to the breath-taking Upper Gascoyne, where rugged landscapes, wide-open skies, and warm country hospitality create a magical backdrop for week four of the Festival.

Presented in partnership with the Shire of Upper Gascoyne, this program highlights the region’s unique people and produce through a series of unforgettable events that celebrate the true spirit of outback life.

Few places inspire awe like Mount Augustus — the world’s largest rock — set beneath some of Australia’s clearest, darkest skies. Join us at the Mount Augustus Tourist Park for Stargazing, Sounds & Supper, a relaxed, family-friendly evening under the stars.

Renowned astronomer Roger Groom will guide you through the constellations, planets, and stories of the night sky, while live music drifts gently through the evening air. Enjoy a simple, hearty supper as you take in this extraordinary natural wonder.

Thanks to the generosity of the Shire of Upper Gascoyne, this is a free community event. Spaces are limited, so please be sure to register here.

On Saturday night, the heart of the Upper Gascoyne beats strongly at the Gascoyne Junction Pub & Tourist Park, now under the talented stewardship of chefs Daniel Bond and Evangelitsa Cartwright.

Dining Under the Gascoyne Stars is an elegant outdoor dining experience showcasing the finest local ingredients, expertly prepared by Dan and Litsa, who bring passion and genuine hospitality to every dish.

Dine on a beautifully crafted three-course meal beneath the vast outback sky — an atmospheric and unforgettable experience. Tickets are limited and selling fast, so be sure to book now.

The festivities continue with a relaxed afternoon at Two Rivers Memorial Park, where local music fills the air and guests enjoy generous picnic hampers brimming with fresh Gascoyne produce and regional flavours.

Bring a blanket, find your perfect spot on the grass, and soak up a quintessential Upper Gascoyne Sunday surrounded by great food, music, and community spirit.

Picnic hampers must be pre-ordered, so please confirm your order here.

To conclude the Upper Gascoyne program, join Waddi and Genevieve at historic Doorawarrah Station for the charming Outback Tour & Tea.

Start your day on the homestead veranda with a warm, hearty morning tea featuring homemade quiche, freshly baked muffins, station beef sausage rolls, and endless tea and coffee served with genuine country hospitality.

Take a guided tour of this working station, learning about its rich history, rugged landscapes, and the people who call it home.

Then enjoy a traditional station lunch — a rustic Ploughman’s Platter with cold sliced lamb, silverside beef, pickles, salad, and fresh bread — a humble and delicious taste of station life.

These events capture everything that makes the Gascoyne Food Festival so special: extraordinary places, authentic people, and incredible flavours.

Whether you’re stargazing over Mount Augustus, dining al fresco under the outback stars, or enjoying a homemade cuppa on a station veranda, the Upper Gascoyne promises memories that will stay with you.

We look forward to welcoming you to this unique and beautiful region.

Over the past few weeks, we’ve explored the Festival’s regions — from Carnarvon to Exmouth, and now the Upper Gascoyne. Next week, join us as we head to Shark Bay and Dirk Hartog Island to preview the spectacular Festival Finale on Sunday 31 August.
